Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)

RCDD Description:

The Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification from BICSI Certification was established in 2001 and is aimed at students who are currently employed in the information transport systems environments, or those who want to find employment in those environments, and want to obtain the BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.

The BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification certifies that a successful Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) has learnt the knowledge need to design, implement, and integrate information transport systems and related infrastructure. The successful BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certified student will have knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations, principles of transmission, electromagnetic compatibility, horizontal distribution systems, backbone distribution systems, special design considerations, telecommunications administration, and networking fundamentals. These are all fields in the information transport systems environments.

RCDD Prerequisites:

The Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification is only available to students who have at least two years of experience in distribution design.

RCDD Required Exams:

To be awarded the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification, the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) student must successfully pass one exam namely; the BICSI RCDD. This exam has a difficulty rating of about 3 out of 5 and is thus only a moderately difficult exam. This exam is available in English only.

RCDD Recertification:

A successful Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) student will hold the BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification for three years only, after which the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) student must re-register. Re-registration is only possible if the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) student has acquired at least 45 BICSI continuing education credits (CECs) of technical ITS training.
