Apple Certified Portable Technician (ACPT)

ACPT Description:

The Apple Certified Portable Technician (ACPT) certification from Apple Certification was established in 2001 and is aimed at students who are currently employed in the Service Provider and Enterprise environments, or those who want to find employment in those environments, and want to obtain the Apple Certified Portable Technician (ACPT) certification.

The Apple Certified Portable Technician certification certifies that a successful Apple Certified Portable Technician has learnt the knowledge need to identifying and resolving common OS X problems, and using Apple Service and Support products and practices to effectively repair Apple hardware. The successful Apple Certified Portable Technician student will have knowledge of the Macintosh portable service technicians, but also worthwhile for help desk personnel at schools and businesses, and for Macintosh consultants and others needing in-depth understanding of how Apple systems operate. These are all fields in the Service Provider and Enterprise environments.

ACPT Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisite but you must have 6 to 12 moths experience perform basic troubleshooting and repair of Macintosh portable systems, such as iBook and PowerBook G4 .

ACPT Required Exams:

To be awarded the Apple Certified Portable Technician certification, the Apple Certified Portable Technician student must successfully pass two exams namely; the Apple 9L0-401 Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 (ACHDS) and the Apple 9L0-206 Apple Portable Service (ACPT) exam has a difficulty rating of about 3 out of 5 and is thus only a moderately difficult exam. ACPT Recertification:

A successful Apple Content Network Specialist student will hold the Apple Content Network Specialist certification for one year only, after which the Apple Content Network Specialist student must re-validate their Apple Content Network Specialist certification by retaking and passing the Apple 9L0-401 Mac OS X Support Essentials v10.4 (ACHDS) and Apple 9L0-206 Apple Portable Service (ACPT) exam.
